What we collect and why

The website asks you for nothing. No contact form, no account, no login, no newsletter, no chat widget. Nobody has to identify themselves to read a page here.

What the site does collect is usage measurement through Google Analytics: which pages people arrive on, and which ones actually help someone get a tyre fitted. We do not run advertising anywhere on this site, we do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not sell or share anything with data brokers. The advertising categories of consent are switched off permanently in our configuration, not merely left unticked.

Two things worth stating plainly. That measurement is pseudonymous, not anonymous: if you accept, a cookie gives your browser an identifier that tells one returning visitor from another, which is why this page gives it a lawful basis, a retention period and rights you can exercise. And none of it loads until you accept. Google's measurement code is not on this page, not requested, and not contacted in any form until you press Accept. Decline, or simply ignore the banner, and nothing about your visit reaches Google at all — not a cookie, not an identifier, not a page view, not your IP address.

The postcode checker works out its answer inside your browser: nothing is looked up on a server and the postcode you type never reaches us. If — and only if — you accepted analytics, an answer also reports the outward half of what you typed to Google along with whether it was inside our area: so TN2 from TN2 3QR, and never the whole thing. That tells us which districts people are asking about and how often we are turning work away. The half we drop is the half that narrows a postcode to a handful of households, and it goes before the report is built, not after.

If you call, message or email us we hold what you tell us — your name, your number, where the vehicle is, what has happened to the tyre — because we cannot fit a tyre without it.

Lawful basis

For everything to do with analytics, the basis is your consent, given through the banner and withdrawable at any moment. There is no second basis and no fallback: no consent means no measurement, rather than a quieter kind of measurement. Declining costs you nothing — the reject button is the same size as the accept button, no part of the site is held back behind it, and you are not asked again for six months.

For a job you book with us, the basis is performance of a contract — we cannot bring a tyre to a vehicle without an address and a phone number. For keeping a record of work already carried out, the basis is our legitimate interest in being able to answer a question about that job weeks later, alongside the records our accounting obligations require us to keep.

Who else sees your data

Google, as our analytics processor, and only if you accepted analytics. Our hosting provider, which serves these pages and keeps short-lived server logs as part of running the service. And, if you message us on WhatsApp rather than call, Meta, which runs WhatsApp and holds that conversation as a phone network holds a call record. Those three, and nobody else: we do not pass customer details to other garages, to lead generation companies, or to anyone selling anything.

All three are outside the UK, principally in the United States. Where the recipient is certified under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, transfers rely on that. Where it is not, they rely on the ICO's International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses. Your cookie choice, and how to change it

Use the Cookie settings control in the footer of any page. It withdraws consent, deletes the Google Analytics cookies already on your device, forgets the answer we had stored and reloads the page — which is what removes Google's code from it — then asks you again. Clearing cookies for this site in your browser settings does the same thing, as long as you reload afterwards.

If any of this changes we will change this page and move the date at the top. Where a change means doing something you have not agreed to, we will ask again rather than assume.
